Having graduated from the College for Technical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Department in Mödling, Klaus Schierhackl studied business management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business from 1987 to 1992.
From 1991 to 1995 he worked as an assistant at the Institute for Transport Industry while simultaneously completing his doctorate degree.
From 1995 to 1997, Schierhackl worked in Organisational Development at MAN in Munich, then moved to a logistics-related corporate consultancy, before being appointed head of the Toll Department at ASFINAG in 1997. Since that time Schierhackl maintains close contact with ASECAP, with European Institutions and many other stakeholders in the traffic and transport environment.
From 2005 to 2007 Klaus Schierhackl was managing director of ASFINAG Maut Service GmbH and in October 2007 Schierhackl was appointed board member of ASFINAG. He is primarily responsible for the tasks of financing, accounting & controlling, human resources, legal services, tolling and international business.
Klaus Schierhackl was president of ASECAP between 2011 and 2013. Since 2011 he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the globally acting International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA) and is currently serving as the association’s International Vice President. Moreover, he has been a member of the European Road Transport Telematics Implementation Organisation’s (ERTICO) Supervisory Board since June 2015.
