From 27 to 29 May 2015, ASECAP held its 43rd Study and Information Days in Lisbon, Portugal

The 43rd annual ASECAP Study and Information Days explored the key role of the tolled roads in ensuring a realistic sustainable multimodal system. The event offered the opportunity to reflect on the views of high-level panellists representing toll road infrastructure operators, as well as other modes of transport, EU decision-makers and ministers to discuss sustainability issues related to infrastructure planning, financing and operation, considering how Intelligent Transport Systems contribute to the achievement of the goals set.

The conference focused on the role of the motorways under the umbrella of a sustainable and smart multimodality, and  exploited the added value of combining the unmatched technical expertise and field experience of ASECAP Members with top-notch political considerations.

The two-day discussions were therefore marked by technical and political sessions with key information and Q & A about subjects falling under the responsibility of ASECAP’s different Permanent Committees (COPERs) affecting infrastructure financing, safe movement and smart mobility. The parallel developments in the US and the EU regarding the tolling priorities were specifically underlined, while the REETS consortium (the sole pan-European project on regional tolling interoperability funded by the European Commission) led by ASECAP, drew the relevant conclusions and key messages, laying the main considerations in the motorway tolling field.
